Rewrite of the Apostles Creed Needed

Below is the Apostles Creed, as said shortly after the beginning of Mass:

I believe in God, the Father almighty, creator of heaven and earth.
I believe in Jesus Christ, his only Son, our Lord.
He was conceived by the power of the Holy Spirit and born of the Virgin Mary.
He suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died, and was buried.
He descended into hell. On the third day he rose again.
He ascended into heaven and is seated at the right hand of the Father.
He will come again to judge the living and the dead.
I believe in the Holy Spirit,
the holy catholic Church, the communion of saints,
the forgiveness of sins,
the resurrection of the body,
and life everlasting.

Now I feel that changing part of it to acknowledge and be thankful for the whole universe, not just Earth and Heaven... And at the end we say "and everlasting life". How about adding a David Icke-ian "and eternal consciousness". So if it were up to me to change the wording...

Homemade French Lemonaide

I was looking at the Wikipedia page about the fruit drink Fruitopia, which lead me to the page about the history of the Soft Drink, which had a subsection about Lemonaide, and how it was a French drink dating back to the 1600s A.D. - they made it with lemon juice, water, and honey. Sounds a lot better than the Minute Maid stuff you buy nowadays. So I tried it and it tastes great. You don't need to put 1/2 pound sugar into a jug...Use some liquid honey instead.

The story about French lemonaide said that people would walk through town with a canister of the refreshment on their backs and cups - instant small business!

I have a ghost story to tell you...

Thirty-three years ago (1976) I was just 10 years old and our family had just moved into a home in south River Heights a few months prior.

I remember going downstairs for some toy or book after school in the Fall, and back then we didn't have as many LED lights from gadgets like we have now. The basement was pretty much pitch black.

One day after school between 4.30 and 5 p.m. I walked downstairs and I could feel this "presence" of this older (approx. 50 years old) man. This happened several times. I was so freightened of him that I'd run to get my stuff and then run like Hell back upstairs, careful not to bump into the telepost.

One day this man showed me this lifesize Sepia-toned image of his family. I now know that this was just a still Dagerotype from the 1800s. The man was standing and to the right of him was his wife holding onto her husband's leg. To the right of them were their children - a girl and a boy.

I studied the image for a bit, before running upstairs to my room.

It was at that time that I was huffing and puffing and asked their names...

Me: OK, what are your names, starting with the father.

Father: Aern. (with a Brogue/Celtic/Gaelic accent)

Me: How do you spell that?

Father: A E R N

Me: What is your wife's name?

Father: Mary

Me: What is your son's name?

Father: Joe (in a humble tone)

At that moment I thought the names were being inserted by my own consciousness because Mary and Joseph were my grandparents name. So I never did get the name of the daughter. And I haven't gotten their Surname which would have made it easier to locate history records of them.

Over the years after 1976-77-78 etc.. I had gotten over the fear of going downstairs because I started to turn on the lights instead of just running from this "man".

In 1985 my heart changed and I was a kinder more loving person. One day I saw this "memory clip" that of this 7 year old boy who looked like he was just getting ready for bed. He had overalls on which he had just taken off. Under that he wore an orange, blue and silver striped shirt. It was Aern's son, Joe from the life-size Dagerotype! At the time I thought he was pointing at me but he was actually just one of Aern's memories. Joe was making monkey faces and was just being silly. I had seen this clip at least 4 times in the 1980s.

Then nothing. Until November 1, 2009.

I had taken my cat, Tiger, to my parent's home, and after watching part of a movie in the basement, my cat peered to the back of the basement doorway where the laundry room was. I heard Tiger say "Hello, hello, Aern?"

I gasped, and said to my cat "Hey, I remember that name from when I was younger!" Then Tiger says while returning from the back of the basement and lookking contented "gotta go, Aern". My cat looked like I was interrupting something between them and that they were friendly to one another.

So this past week was one in which everything that the ghost of Aern had just started to make sense. And he was such a good family man. I remember talking to him back in 1985... He would ask me telepathically ... "Can I see my family now?" repeating that for a few times. I told him at the time I wasn't sure whether he could go to Heaven or not because I wasn't sure whether he had done something to cause him to not go up.

This year has seen a monumental shift inside of me. I lost my first cat, Smiles, to abdominal cancer. I had him for 18 years. And other things at work and in the political happenings in the U.S. caused me to reflect on what it means to be "human" and where we go in the afterlife.

In June I became open to reincarnation and have been listening to David Icke and others on the topic.

So when I heard Aern's name called out by my cat last week it reminded me of all thatI had encountered of him since 1976.

My question is this... Was there a Red River Colony Settlement in what is now southwest River Heights? And if so, how do I find out more about this Aern guy and his family. I am sorry I couldn't find his last/surname. I don't know if he just doesn't remember it (head injury at death?) or I couldn't hear his ghost whisper voice clear enough.

Can you help me find more about the Red River Colony if there were families not just at the Rivers, but also beyond?

Names of my Guardian Angel & Spirit Guide

I have asked the names of my Guardian Angel and Spirit Guide.

The name of my Guardian Angel is Rexufufus ('Rexy' for short), and the name of my Spirit Guide is Daniel.

The name Rexufufus is a unique name. You won't find it by doing a Google search.

Tiger the Cat speaks with Aern the Ghost/Spirit

When I was a young boy of 9 or 10 -- when our family moved to their current home in south River Heights in 1975, whenever I went downstairs it was dark there. I always was so scared of being down there alone, and I would always rush back as fast as I could back upstairs.

I knew I saw some kind of dark coloured male spirit standing there watching me run from the basement and up the stairs.

And ever since I started to bring my 2nd cat, Tiger, to my parent's home, he never really liked being there much I thought. He would meow and meow and I always got the impression that he wanted to go back to my apt.

But today I guess because I've been opened again to ghosts because of my cat Smiles coming back twice in spirit form to my apartment (June & October 2009).

I brought Tiger over, and let him go downstairs for a bit. He meowed as usual, and in fact Pat, and Scully the Parrot, and Tiger and myself were all sitting down for a bit to watch the 1988 animated movie The Land Before Time on Laserdisc.

Pat went back upstairs because I had gone up again for some food.

When I returned I could hear Tiger talking. He was at the back of the laundry room, when I heard him say "Hello, Hello. Erin?"

So now this ghost/spirit has a name.

Now what do we do?

This and possibly more spirits have been present in the that space for possibly 100s of years.

Mom of course can't see them and of course she doesn't really believe in them because I believe she is "rational" and not really spiritual or psychic like Pat and me are.

Then Tiger spoke again from the back of the laundry room, while I was sitting at the other end of the basement but could clearly hear what Tiger was saying...

He said "Gotta go, Erin", meaning Tiger had to leave the spirit(s) and was going back to me at the other (north) end of the basement

As I remember Aern running scared passed him in the 1970s, he wore a dark cloak and a top hat, and his whole outfit looked like it was from the mid-19th century. So he must have been dead for at least 100 years before our family had moved into the home-space.

I used to be scared of this man figure I saw on my way upstairs, but now I feel so sorry for him. I want to help Aern (male version of Erin) to reach to the tunnel of light that gets his spirit & soul up to Heaven. I don't sense he is "bad" but that I guess in the old Christianity he probably didn't go up to the tunnel because sometimes Christianity scares humanity into making us believe that God is "vengeful" and "you're going to Hell if you sin".

I've discovered though that God really is more merciful than we let on to believe. If we have sinned a bit, as long as it is not major stuff like murder, then we basically do "Heaven time" and will one day reincarnate again into a new body.

If Aern and other human spirits had just let go and gone into the light when he had died over 100 years ago, his soul would have reincarnated into the body of a male again, and if he chose, he would have been born in Winnipeg with a new name -- God's way of totally forgiving our sins. I will try and communicate that to Aern if I see him again though. I don't want him to continue to get stuck the way he's been. I'm sure the rest of his family has been waiting for him in Heaven for a long, long, time, if they haven't reincarnated themselves at least once by now.

Smiles the Cat Visits from the Afterlife

My cat Smiles passed away on his 18th birthday, March 2, 2009.

Twelve hours later while at my parent's home I hear the voice of my Uncle Rudy say "Now this is the one I've been waiting for!".

Then in early May 2009 Fr. Brian Massie passed away and about a week or two later. I was playing a bit rough with my other cat Tiger when I hear Fr. Massie say to my consciousness, "Be nice to your cats, or you won't get to Heaven." "OK thanks for the reminder", I said. I was playing a bit rough with Smiles too, for his age, and was wondering whether I was making it hard on him and may have contributed to him dying when he did.

Then in early June I became opened to reincarnation when my sister Pat mentioned it.

About a week later I was at my computer in the early evening when I turned around towards my bathroom and I saw the back 1/2 of a dark grey transparent cat lunge forward into the bathroom. It was not one of the other cats because - get this - he was positioned near the top of the doorway, not on the ground, so it was not a shadow or reflection of some sort from Tiger or Herbie. It all but lasted about 5 seconds. I knew it was Smiles in spirit form.

Nothing happened since that time until last week, October 19th or 20th, when I had just started to climb out of the bathtub in the morning to get ready for work. It was about 7.45 a.m. As I was climbing out of the tub I grabbed my bath towel, and as I put it around my shoulder I saw Smiles run right past the left part of me very close to my head. As he passed my shoulder, he let one of his feet touch my shoulder, and then he was off, outside the bathroom, and disappeared.

Until these two ghost occurrences I had never seen anything in spirit form before, or at least if I had, I couldn't identify it.

Also, Smiles' spirit was dark transparent black (dark grey). In the two instances, I had not seen his face nor had I caught a glimpse of any white fur part of him like his underbelly.

So now through Smiles' two visits and also from seeing my purple and pink crown chakra (flower-like petals) in June I can confirm that the soul and the spirit are different. The soul is the multi-coloured being of light that we are that we see each other as in a deeper part of Heaven. The soul has no weight to it because of it being composed of light. It always stays the same colours. The spirit, on the other hand, is like a shapeshifter from a sci-fi movie. You choose your form before you are born, and once you choose that form you are that until you die. So a soul that was a cat in one life and then becomes human and will have met many different cats and humans in its life will be seen from the other's "sight" as being either a cat or a human.

I welcome Smiles to continue to visit me for as long as he needs to or for as long as he can. One day Smiles, Tiger, Herbie and me as well as others will all be up in Heaven romping around it and Rainbow Bridge. One day, we will return to Earth, in feline or human form, as children, as parents, and as cats.

No More A Slave To Big Pharma

Since 2005 (and a bit earlier) I have had Type 2 Diabetes, and since early 2006 I have been on the pharmaceutical drug Metformin, which has been around since the mid-1960s.

At the time I had always told everyone that if I find a way to get off that drug I would happily try it.

I have concluded that Metformin and other diabetic drugs are but a "crutch" if we allow them to be. As human beings we are more than what we are told and that we can self-heal our bodies using natural remedies that have been around for thousands upon thousands of years.

So I actually started this in May 2009 when I became aware and awake to the phenomena of 'chemtrails' (or geo-engineering) our climate to make it cooler, ickier and less humane to breathe its air.

I sought a way to rid myself of the harmful chemicals like rat poison (aka Barium), and aluminium -- both being used to block our sinus cavities, causing shortness of breath, causing colds more often, having a skipping or 'palpitating' heartbeat, having the feeling of choking on gum in the middle of the night, but it's actually mucus.

I started with Bentonite and Oil Of Oregano. The bottle of Bentonite says you're supposed to take it with Psyllium powder, which was expensive too, but well worth it.

The Bentonite and Oregano I took for a few weeks, not regularly but every few days. And I'll say this now: if it weren't for my good friend James H. getting sick in May, I might not have discovered that these herbal remedies actually do work.

I hadn't noticed any difference until about the second week of September, and just like September 2001 when I tried a water fast, I drank 4 to 6 glasses of distilled and mineral (Jackson Springs) water daily.

By this time I felt the internal cells in my body and externally my skin cells to be created in a more pure state. It felt so good to feel soooo good again. I am 43 chronologically, but I felt about 18 again.

People around me at my workplace were hacking coughing, and I told them about Oil of Oregano. Some said they might try it, but they were the ones who were on 'blood thinners'. They let Big Pharma control their bodies and to become locked in, or dependent upon pharmaceutical drugs to maintain their illness rather than cure them.

So sad.

As the Bentonite began to clear out the gunk in my body, I began to notice also that my hair became softer and the skin throughout my body to become child-like soft.

I was off of Metformin, and I wasn't going to go back to it again!

I was waking up earlier too. No more pressing the snooze button on the alarm clock and being late for work.

Because there is 22% less Sunlight getting to us now than 30 years ago, I began to take 5,000 units (5 * 1000 mg) of Vitamin D3 daily, and sometimes take 6,000.

Flaxseed Oil is an essential oil that is Omega3 which is not produced by our bodies, and there is scientific evidence to say that those who have Type 2 Diabetes should eat Omega3 fish daily to control their blood sugar. So instead of eating a 'meat sandwich' like Ham or Salami or just whatever, I began bringing a can of Tuna with me to work for Lunch. Instead of eating it with a sandwich and mayonaise I just spill out the water and eat the fish directly from a plate.

If I drink some distilled water or a glass of milk, or cranberry juice with it, an hour or so later, I feel soooo good and have so much energy it is like I am light on my feet and feel so much energy I could participate in a running marathon.

The last couple of weeks I expanded my forte in cleansing my body by adding one or two cups of cranberry juice daily. I cannot easily tell whether I had any urinary tract infection or not, but I can tell that I don't have as much muscle pain passing urine as I used to.

And most recently I have discovered that lowering blood sugar and curing diabetes it is necessary to cleanse the liver too. I bought the herbal remedy Milk Thistle, which I found to irritate my abdomen the first few days, so I switched to Lecithin, which my Dad used to give us before going to school in the 1970s, so I have an association with that. I prefer the Milk Thistle also because going by what I've read about it, it can 'heal and repair' the liver and minimize any problems from gall bladder, which I've had for the past 20 years.

So I'm really feeling quite fine. One thing though. My blood sugars are still reporting around 30-ish. But even that will be lowered by another thing I'll be taking in almost daily -- Cinnamon. It has been proven through several scientific tests that putting 1/2 tsp. of Cinnamon into your tea, coffee, or hot chocolate it is guaranteed to lower your blood sugar by 25% or more after 40 days.

59 Donald St. Rammed by Driver of Convertible

Some asshole rammed into the side of my apt. block on Donald St. today. Early reports from residents of the apartment block were that before dying though, she also hit a pedestrian who was crossing Donald St. (Note: but the media is now saying there was never a pedestrian hit).

She hit the building so hard that the inside wall of the lobby is now cracked.

The latest on this story, from CKY says that there was no pedestrian hurt. Yet someone confirmed seeing an ambulance haul away a body bag, others from the building say that the scene was grusome.

Car hits building at Broadway and Donald

The Winnipeg Police Service closed the intersection at Broadway Avenue and Donald Street after a serious car crash on Friday afternoon.

Police had originally suggested that a pedestrian had been hit in the crash, but that information turned out to be false.

The vehicle involved collided with a building in the 100 block of Donald Street.

Motorists were asked to avoid the area while police did their initial investigation, and say a female was taken to hospital in unstable condition, but say her condition has since been upgraded to stable.

Police say there is no further information at this time.

Donald Street and Broadway is now open to all traffic, previously closed due to a serious motor vehicle collision.

It turns out this was a single motor vehicle collision into a building....not a pedestrian hit.

The vehicle involved was travelling southbound on Donald Street after which time the driver lost control and collided with a building.

The 54-year-old female driver was the only person injured. She was conveyed to hospital in unstable condition. She has since been upgraded to stable condition.

And I snapped more photographs, one showing a bracketed area being marked with blue chalk, at one of the curb side parking spaces just north of the apartment block. Other Police markings, again in blue, show the supposed trajectory of the vehicle, and markings indicating "PF" and "PR". What do those mean?

The Iraq Plaque of Jesus - July 1968

I turned two in June of 1968 and about 3 weeks later Iraq was in the news. My Mom would turn on the Noon newscast on channel 7 CJAY and I remember sitting on the sofa but not looking at the tv.

Then I started hearing the words "Iraq". For some odd reason I then focussed on this ceramic plaque of Jesus that my Mom's Mom gave to her shortly before I was born.

Well, I must have heard her mention the word "plaque" because my mind joined those two words up and voila! -- instant toddler daytime nightmare.

My Mom was in the kitchen and as I sat there on the sofa, I started to scream for her to take down the plaque because it was scarring me. But she did not come. She just didn't understand what I was complaining about. I remember even pointing out the plaque to her.

She later removed it I think, but then the next day the same thing would happen. I'd be listening (but not watching) the local newscast, and then I guess they cut to the reporter's story on the latest in Iraq, and I'd freak out, closing my ears and screaming and wanting my Mom to take down the plaque of Jesus.

Years later I recalled this and through the power of the Internet found out that Sadam Hussein had been a newsmaker on July 17, 1968. He had staged a coup of the Iraqi government and overthrew it between that date and July 30th.

1968 - On 17 July the Baath Party returns to power in a bloodless coup that Saddam has helped organise. A group of Sunni Iraqis from Tikrit take the top posts in the new Baath government. Bakr is made president. Saddam is appointed as acting deputy chairman of the Revolutionary Command Council (the government's most powerful decision-making body).

On 30 July Saddam takes personal charge of a purge to rid the new government of old-guard figures. I guess back then my brain heard the words "plaque" and "Iraq" and somehow thought they were somehow connected to one another. In reality the words just rhymm with one another.

The moral of this story is this. Parents, if your kids are screaming about something, perhaps you should listen to and attend to them, because it could be that they are having some kind of experinece like I had.

Memories of 1968

I remember when I was very young. Perhaps 2 (1968) or early 1969 when we used to go to my relative's home on Cobourg St. in Elmwood (which I really consider to be part of East Kildonan).

I remember part of their house. My cousin's bedroom was on the second floor, and because he lived there it was easy for him to walk up the stairs. But when I was there I found the stairs too steep, and it had this ribbed rubber mat that I found a bit slippery. So I would have to climb up there on my hands and knees.

Then one of the visits I remember that my cousin got one of those wind-up toy clocks with the musical tune. The tune is on the Wii Music disc -- "My Grandfather's Clock". The Wikipedia artcle says the toy clock came out in 1968, so that makes very much sense. Us two boys had the very latest toy.

As it turned out, my cousin's family moved to another house in 1974 when my Aunt and Uncle had a baby girl.

Funny though how I can't really remember the rest of the old house very well, but it was like yesterday I remember my cousin telling me to hurry up (and he was 2 years and a bit), and me telling him that I didn't like how the stairs were.

Playing back audio from Audacity audio editor

Last time I had Fedora (Linux) was version 8 and I had connected a headphone mic to it and was able to record audio into this UNIX workstation.

Cool stuff.

But I lost the program when I upgraded to Fedora 10.

This program Audacity has been around for about 16 years or more and is available for Linux, Mac and Windows.

The problem I have had in getting it working is not in the recording of audio from a mic, but in the playback. The settings is for the Alsa AC'97 output but it really should be set to Alsa:pulse or Alsa:default.

Now it works again and I'm interested in doing some audio commentary for truwinnipeg.org in the next while.

MIDI on Fedora 10 (Linux)

Today was the first time I got MIDI to work in Linux on my computer.

The missing program was libtimidity, the "MIDI to WAV converter library".

The Winnipeg Tribune - WE'RE BACK!

I just posted at TRUWinnipeg about how using your mind's intent to help cause a dream turn into a reality, in particular making the current 66 Grant bus route turn into a modern streetcar route.

I also gave the example of a Canadian infrastructure parts directory that e-mailed me two days after "riding" the Wilson subway between confusion corner and Polo Park, and including all the sounds and sights one would experience when riding such a thing.

Another example of a recurring dream I used to have in the early 1980s was where The Winnipeg Tribune would publish once again.
This dream went like this... It would be a Saturday afternoon in the Summer, and I'd be tagging along with my parents as we shopped at Grant Park. Back in the early 1980s there was a drug store chain called Metro Drugs, and I used to check out the computer and home video magazines there. In this dream I walk past the news stand and spot two or three copies of the Trib. This copy is not mass produced, but is like a limited edition -- much fewer copies than in the days when it published before closing.

The Winnipeg Free Press owns the name of The Winnipeg Tribune since the paper closed on August 27, 1980.

The copy price was $1, compared to the 20 cents back in 1980. But this was because of the lower circulation.

Now add the 'power of intent', and do this several times...See this scenario nowadays at your favourite local corner store or supermarket. And see yourself happy with excitement that the Trib is back again.

Then see the date of the paper. It says August 28, 2010, and the main headline says -- WE'RE BACK!

There is no copies of the Free Press because the Free Press has turned into The Trib.

Dissolving Clouds with Your Mind

As kids, someone would pass along info that said that if you stare at a cloud long enough and wish it to disappear, in a few minutes it will.

I can't remember how I came to this but it must have been through more research on "chembusting" -- using orgonite and quartz crystals to evaporate chemtrail clouds.

So I remembered myself that in the 1980s I heard that you can just look at a cloud and make it totally disappear. There is some kind of spirit connection to the clouds and you can somehow communicate to them your intentions. Apparently us humans can also create clouds too.

This, however is a gift from God, to us. And I think that we should thank God that He has given us this gift of being able to do this. It's quite possible that God gave us this ability to show us that beyond Earth, when we are just our souls that we communicate via our minds, not our mouth.

It was a very overcast day in Winnipeg on June 10, 2009 and after reading on how to dissolve clouds, I tried a few myself. The sky was completely grey/black, and I thought it might be difficult to eliminate this whole skyfull of dark stormy clouds, but in 10-15 minutes the sky opened up in an arc that spread out in front of me westward and behind my building downtown. If you saw the skies clearing a few times during the afternoon, that was my doing.

When I looked away and went back to my computing, the sky in front of my apt. block and in an arc surrounding it became grey/black again. Others have tried this and have confirmed that it does work.

Chemtrail clouds, however, might be a bit harder, since they are man-made, and not totally water-vapour.

All I ask is that you give it a try. It doesn't hurt to do so.

Winnipeg is shivering through a June cold spell that was expected yesterday to lead to a record low maximum temperature.

The afternoon temperature at Richardson International Airport was forecast to climb no higher than 9 C after reaching only about 8.1 C over the noon hour -- well short of the previous low maximum of 10.8 C, which was set for June 5 at that location in 1992.

Discomfort

Environment Canada meteorologist Dale Marciski said cold arctic air flowing south over the Prairies, northern Ontario and the north-central U.S. is behind the pre-summer discomfort.

The chill was set to possibly bring record low maximums yesterday to Morden, Sprague, Gimli, Fisher Branch and Pinawa in southern Manitoba, and to The Pas in the north.

"I don't think in any case would this be the coldest temperature ever in June," Marciski said. "There are colder highs than this. But for June 5, these could be the coldest high temperatures."

At a time when southern Manitoba's normal high temperature is 23 C and the low is 10 C, last night saw a risk of frost across the region and an expected Winnipeg low of 1 C.

In parts of the Interlake the mercury was forecast to drop last night to as low as -1 C, downright dangerous for plants.

"We have a lot of problems with cold weather and frost -- putting plants away every night and taking them out every morning," said Denis Remillard, owner of the St. Leon Gardens plant store in Winnipeg. "It's been several years since we've had a challenging spring like this."

The plant store is giving workers more days off due to the cold's effect in slowing sales, Remillard said.

At the Bridge Drive-In, fewer than 50 customers had arrived yesterday to buy ice cream or other such snacks by mid-afternoon.

Approach normal

"That's one-eighth of what we should be doing," manager Roger Brisebois said, noting his staff had more idle time. "I sent one girl home, and we're just putting around here."

The low last night at Winnipeg's airport was projected to come reasonably close to the June 5 record of 0 C at that location, set in 1998.

The highs today through Monday will range from 14 C to 16 C, Marciski said, adding they might "approach normal" by hitting close to 20 C on Wednesday and Thursday.

If more and more people connect what is wrong with our weather -- endless days of overcast skies, unseasonably colder than normal temperatures, and supposed to be uncommon (but common now) easterly-winds, then you'll find that this is not nature, but rather man-made weather modification, using chemtrails as the tool for this icky weather.

But I discovered something yesterday. A person created a link to a web page off of Alex Jones' PrisonPlanet.com forum that says YES WE CAN do something about chemtrail vapours.

Chembusters, which use Orgone to clear out the chemtrail vapours and help bring back the blue skies again.

Looking for 1959-style Anchor Hocking Glass Pitcher

When I moved out on my own in 1989, the pop culture - music, movies, tv, colour schemes and patterns seemed to emulate 1959.

It's like this one, except there was no pattern on it, and the bottom had a 'honeycomb'-like 3 layer 'rib' to it.



Even Safeway was into it, by remodelling its stores to use nifty neon to denote its Dairy, Meat, Bakery departments.

I think it was in May of 1989 that I bought a heavy glass pitcher from Safeway at Grant Park one day, and I used that at my first place at 28 Biscayne Bay (in Fort Garry). Then when I moved to 87 Smith Street I used it for several years.

One day I moved the pitcher over the sink tap to wash it and moved my hand too fast and the pitcher got a tear in the glass. Interesting that when I moved into 87 Smith the very same pitcher was left in the fridge for the next tennant. I guess you really have to be careful of these wonderful looking pitchers so the glass doesn't break.

So about 10 years later, I'm missing my 1959-style glass pitcher, and by doing some simple research I've confirmed the following:

* I did buy the pitcher from Safeway because the pitcher was apparently made by Anchor Hocking, which Safeway carries their glass measuring cup.

* The tip of the pitcher is called the ice lip. Didn't know the name of that part until now.


I don't know how I'll find a replacement, maybe I'll have to order one online, or maybe I'll find one at an antique store.

It's sad though that glass pitchers are not easily available like the Anchor Hocking was '89. The only stuff I've been able to see is cheap 'Made in China' plastic jugs, and I don't want that.

Tell Videon you want channels

I wrote the following letter to the editor, that was published in the Winnipeg Free Press on September 17, 1998. It's a bit dated now in context, because Videon Cable-tv was sold to SHAW in 2001, and now Much More Music has changed its name to Much More...

I am responding to the news item that appeared in the entertainment section, Shaw, CHUM reach deal on new specialty channels where Shaw Cable has decided to carry the new music video network, MuchMoreMusic. The new music video network will debut on Sept. 30.

Why must Videon Cable subscribers be left behind, yet again? If you remember, MuchMusic first aired on August 31, 1984, yet Videon couldn't carry it until September 1987. Is this about to happen again? We subscribers demand the choice to decide ourselves what cable networks we should be able to receive, as long as the programming of that network is in good taste?

Alas, there does appear to be ample room in Videon's current frequency spectrum to carry both CTV SportsNet and MuchMoreMusic networks. Videon already carries simultaneous cablescasts of TSC The Shopping Channel, currently on cable 68, and CPAC Cable Public Affairs Channel, which is duplicated on cable 71. I was talking wth one Videon representative during the week and she informed me that there is no room for MuchMoreMusic and that I'd have to wait until some fuzzy time in 1999 before it would be made available. She also said that some of their customers couldn't find TSC when it was put too high up. Well that's tough luck for them. If those people have enough spending money to purchase those items from TSC, then surely they could find enough of that same money to purchase a newer TV, VCR, or cable converter to receive TSC on cable 30. What is Videon's real agenda?

I think what really needs to be done is to have Videon Cable transformed into a co-op organization where all subscribers would have a real say in what is or isn't carried on their cable system, subject to CRTC CanCon rules. If subscribers want Videon to carry MuchMoreMusic from the first broadcast day, I highly encourage them to give Videon a call at 287-4500 and say that they, the cable customers, should have a say in what is carried on their system.

Chemtrails in Winnipeg Letter of the Day

In mid-April 2009 I wrote a Letter to the Editor, which was published as Letter of the Day in the April 18, 2009 edition of the Winnipeg Sun:

JET 'STREAMS'

Hey Winnipeggers, look up, way up to the sky.

Several people I have talked to have noticed 'chemtrails' more often over Winnipeg. These are produced by jet planes creating cross-hatch and heart-shaped patterns in the sky.

Not just in Winnipeg, but also planet-wide.

Why is it that the sky starts out clear blue in the morning, and by late afternoon it is grey and overcast?

It is because of these man-made "clouds" which are intended to block the rays of the sun. Some scientists have tested the fallout of trails and say it is composed of toxic substances like barium and sulphur dioxide — long-term exposure leading to a weakened immune system. Why are these chemicals being sprayed on us?

They are certainly not spraying for mosquitos at this time of the year, as mosquito season has not started yet.

As human beings on this planet, we have a right to breathe clean, fresh air, and receive undisturbed access to sunlight.

The "chemtrails" you're writing about are actually called "contrails" which is short for "condensation trails." These are visible trails of condensed water vapour made by the exhaust of aircraft engines. Depending on atmospheric conditions, contrails may be visible for only a few minutes.

That's it, nothing more. No great conspiracy to poison our air or block out the sun. Contrails don't collect together to make clouds. You might see more than one contrail at a time because more than one aircraft flew over.

The big clouds you see that fill up the sky are not man made. Those are actually real, nature-made clouds.

The smoke used at air shows is for show only and is considered harmless because it dissipates before it hits the ground.

Deamalgamate Winnipeg!

The craziness that is the newly created 311 service illustrates that Winnipeg is not working out very well. It's time to CANCEL 311, and go back to the previous system we had where the receptionists at the various city departments, like the Clerk's Office at City Hall, can take people's calls, such as registering to speak at a Council meeting.

There was a time until December 1971 that the central city of Winnipeg was a completely separate from the City of St. Vital, the City of East Kildonan, the Rural Municipality of Fort Garry, the Rural Municipality of Charleswood, etc...

The past 37 years have proved that Unicity government has been a total, unmitigated FAILURE, and that the way back is to amalgamate and restore as many of these former municipalities as possible

In the past 37 years the identity of the suburban areas have melded with the city — one suburb is almost identical to another.

However, I feel that we had it right when Winnipeg created the Metropolitan Corporation of Greater Winnipeg, which was loosely modeled on the Metropolitan Corporation of Toronto.

Smaller is ALWAYS better. Smaller entities are always more EFFICIENT than monolithic, especially in government.

Until 1998 when Toronto amalgamated several nearby suburbs, the Metro Toronto area was known as one of the best organized governments in the western world. Under Metro government, and separate municipalities, the area was able to grow steadily since its creation in 1954. It was able to extend the TTC subway over 35 years, and through its construction, keep Metro development relatively compact.

The way back is to deamalgamate, and to return the emergency services back to the autonomous municipalities.

A Step Closer To The Mark?

If people just stopped using debit cards and went back to going to the bank teller in person, and paid for items with coins and dollars (cash) then none of this would be allowed to go forward.

Before debit cards were introduced in the early 1990s, customers used to fill out paper slips, wait in line, and hand them to the bank teller. The slips would indicate what the customer would want to do -- deposit some cash, transfer cash from one account to another, cash a cheque, or withdrawal some cash. These slips were not done away with immediately, but only when the banks said that most people don't use them anymore.



So to go back to that system we must stop using debit cards altogether, and demand that our banks return to the cash and deposit slip system! Sure it's a bit inconvenient, but it may HALT, STOP, OR CANCEL OR DELAY these chipped card systems that are a step closer to Revelations 13.

Revelations 13 says:

And [the Antichrist] causeth all, both small and great, rich and poor, free and bond, to receive a mark in their right hand, or in their foreheads:

And that no man might buy or sell, save [except] he that had the mark, or the name of the beast, or the number of his name.

We Are Watching The Watchmen

I saw the new movie The Watchmen this past weekend. It has several references to the New World Order and such.

The story goes back to a comic book released in September 1986, during the same time when "Iran-Contra" was going on in the mainstream media.

I noticed too during this time period a major shift in pop culture FROM one that is promoting "family values", for example the NBC Sunday night program Our House and ABC's The Disney Sunday Movie, TO one that questions trust of one another. Then in 1987 there were a lot of breakups in relationships and in families. The music changed a bit, from being fun, party-like, to being much more dark, and "garange"-like. If you don't know what "garange" is, just listen to the dark theme of Genesis' Tonight, Tonight, Tonight. It can best be thought of as a "biting anger".

That time period, between October 1986 and around 1992, were a transition period. Sure there was bad, but there was also good. We had the great set design and great catchy theme of CNN HeadlineNews, and we had a sort of revival of 1950s culture, where people were reminded of rural culture and those people who were migrating to the cities. So we had this ying yang of Town and Country.

But there was also the bad, in the form of increased tabloid journalism and the creation of FOX Television, Maury Povitch, Inside Edition, and wall to wall coverage of Iran Contra.

Discernment Folk Group has a drummer again.

Tonight I went to St. Ignatius Church (Corydon & Stafford) and saw that the group Discernment, who has been playing since 1970, has a new drummer.

It's been many years that they did have one, and the previous guy died of cancer or something like that.

It makes a HUGE difference in the music ministry in that the band memeber who are singing along are able to keep better time when so they sing together.

It brings back the Rock sound that the group used to have, and it makes it easier for the congregation to sing along if they can sing together with the beat of the drum.

Misdirected Parcel

In late January of this year I had ordered three items from eBay. One from one seller and two from another.

They should have arrived by mid-February, and the one from one seller did.

But the other two items were still MIA.

So I contacted the seller and he says, OK, the US Postal Service says they're "lost in the mail", and nothing can be done except to refund what I originally paid.

Today my sister phones me and says that our Dad was talking to their neighbour on the block and they had recently gone on vacation for two months and they had someone take care of the place during that time.

The neighbour gave the two items to my Dad, and then I paid the eBay seller again and wrote him the story that we have received the items.

The mixup occurred because the Canada Post parcel delivery (man) used the UPC barcode address range instead of the handwritten address that the sender had on the original envelope. Guess they weren't trained very well, and were just pushed into the job.

Oi vey.

Our Commie Councillors

Couns. Mike Pagtakhan (Point Douglas) and Gord Steeves (St. Vital) and are proposing to rename Garbage Day to Recycling Day, using a straight from the Communist doublespeak playbook.

It was reported earlier last month that Winnipegers are recycling less than other provinces because it is less convenient for them.

The real story why people are not recycling anymore is because we are being told that aside from aluminum cans, the rest of our trash goes into the Brady Landfill anyways.

Once you watch Penn & Teller explain how stupid most of recycling is, then you'll become more reasonable when throwing out the trash.

"Now, this is the one I've been waiting for"

My 18-year old cat passed away on his birthday, March 2, 2009.

Around 12 hours later in the afternoon, I had the voice of my deceased Uncle come into my mind and say:

"Now, this is the one I've been waiting for."

I truely believe that Uncle Rudy, who passed away in 1995 after a heart attack related to type 2 Diabetes, is taking care of my cat Smiles until it's my time to be with my cat again in Heaven.

When I checked with my Mom if Uncle Rudy did in fact like cats, she confirmed this.

Maple Syrup Price Beyond Reasonable

My earliest ancestors from the 1300s lived among the maple trees, that is what the surname stands for. A 'Jawor' tree is a sycamore maple, and 'ski' means 'place of'.

So maybe that is why I love pancakes and of course the only real thing to put on them is maple syrup.

When I was a kid we had the Old Colony brand of maple syrup that you could buy at the Safeway supermarket. I can't recall what they charged for a bottle. Perhaps $2.50 or so back in the 1970s.

Then the prices went up in the 1980s and our family started buying the Old Tyme brand which is marketed as "artificial pancake syrup". It's just not the same thing.

The artificial stuff is thinner, and is surely cheaper. But there are some preservatives and other things in there that I'd rather not be eating.

In the 1990s when I moved out on my own I started to buy real maple syrup again, and the cost was around $3.00. Then in 1994 and again in 1998 the price jumped from $4.30 to $6. The justification for the price increase was that the maple syrup farmers in the province of Quecec had that ice storm and also it seems that the maple syrup farmers had, in their greed, wanted more of the dollars as income that came from selling it to the Federation des producteurs acericoles du Quebec (the marketing board).

Now, according to this news report from UPI, the farmers and/or the marketing board is at it again, claiming that there is some kind of "shortage" of maple syrup...And now they want $10 bucks for one bottle.

Oh, and by the way, Old Colony was purchased by Old Tyme, which is an American company, and the Old Colony brand was shut down.

Shades of Orwell's 1984 to come?

Old 24Hours news them from 1979 - June 1982.

I grew up watching CBWT's 24Hours news program in the 1970s. My Dad would take me to his parent's home on Dudley Ave. around 6:30 p.m., while we left Mom behind to watch CJAY News. I was was 4 years old at the time and we'd watch Garth Dawley read the news, and then grandpa would turn off the sound so that we could talk.

That's all I remember from that period.

In the mid-1970s we used to watch CKY News.

By the Spring of 1979 there was a flood in the Red River Valley, and I switched channels from CKY to CBWT where the program 24Hours was on. I found the reporting to be quite a bit better than what CKY had done. 24Hours had included in-studio interviews by John Robertson, and others as well as feature documentaries on a regular basis.

The set was simple blue screen, but it was all they had back then.

It was a somewhat of a magical period, even more so than during the mid- and late 1980s when Mike McCourt took over has host of the program.

But the 1979 to 1982 period I find to be the best. The Youtube video below is the 24Hours theme used back. The title was called "Gathering Crowds" by Mike Vikers (aka Patrick J. O'Hara Scott).
